Facts and Figures: the Snyder Foundation at a Glance
The Snyder Foundation is administratively headquartered in Moorestown, NJ.
It exists to financially support and advance the development and innovation of institutions and individuals in New Jersey that hold high promise.
It aim is to nurture potential that can positively impact the most needy and underserved in the community.
The Foundation’s main areas of emphasis are: healthcare, education, social services, and faith-based community initiatives.
The bulk of its giving is particularly focused on Union County residents and institutions.
The Foundation was founded in New Jersey in 1971 as the Snyder Trust by Harold B. Snyder, a New Jersey land developer and builder for 50 years, who also founded the Kenilworth State Bank.
It was founded on the believed that philanthropy is a critical element in society.
With Harold’s passing, in 1979, daughter Audrey Snyder was appointed to head up the Trust.
The Trust was renamed The Harold B. and Dorothy A. Snyder Foundation in 1984, in honor of Audrey’s parents’ shared passion for “giving back” to society.
Under Audrey’s charge, the Foundation issued its first grant that same year (1984).
To date, the Foundation has made grants approximating $25 million to a wide spectrum of community organizations, entities, and individuals in critical need of philanthropic help.
